We examine the fittings, test their battery operation and record how each light performs. ### What do you check before testing the lights? We examine the emergency lamps and illuminated exit signs, including their battery charging indicators. We compare fitting numbers with earlier test records in the building's logbook. ### How do you simulate a power failure? We operate the lighting test switches, which disconnect mains power to the emergency fittings. We check that the lamps switch to battery power and illuminate. ### How do you check the battery running time? We time how long each emergency light stays illuminated on its battery. A full duration test checks the fitting against its rated running time and identifies lights that go out too soon. ### What results do we record for your building? We write down each fitting's location and test results for your building records. We identify failed lamps, batteries and damaged light covers, with recommendations for the replacement work needed. ## Questions about emergency lighting tests in Clapham ### Do you test emergency lighting at Clapham properties? We test emergency lighting in Clapham, including backup lamps and illuminated exit signs. Our checks examine whether each fitting lights up on battery power and stays illuminated for its rated running time. ### What happens during the emergency lighting visit after booking? We inspect the emergency fittings before switching off their mains supply through the test controls. We check their battery operation and record the results for your building's maintenance logbook. ### Will the tests turn off power to sockets? Socket power continues operating during the emergency lighting check. The test switches disconnect the mains electricity feeding the emergency lights so we can examine their battery operation. ### What is the difference between a monthly check and a full duration test? A monthly check tests whether the emergency lamps illuminate when mains electricity stops. A full annual duration test measures whether their batteries keep the lights running for the complete rated period. ### What happens to a light that goes out before the test finishes? We record a light that stops illuminating before its rated running time as faulty. The findings identify whether replacement work involves the battery, lamp or complete fitting. ## Other services in Clapham - [Electrician in Clapham](https://belloelectricsltd.co.uk/electrician-clapham): Electrician services in Clapham from Bello Electrics Ltd, including wiring repairs, electrical inspections, lighting, rewiring and appliance connections. - [Emergency lighting (all areas)](https://belloelectricsltd.co.uk/services/emergency-lighting-testing): Emergency lighting testing by Bello Electrics Ltd in Battersea, Clapham, Chelsea and Wandsworth.
